Terminator TV series in development, to air alongside film remake in US

By
A new Terminator TV series is being made.

The show, commissioned to coincide in the US with a reboot of the movie franchise in 2015, will be written by Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller (X-Men: First Class, Thor).

The Terminator (1984)

According to Deadline, writers working on the upcoming movie, Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier, will serve as executive producers alongside Stentz and Miller.

The series is expected to diverge from the original 1984 film, taking it in a completely different direction at a pivotal moment.

Although casting rumours for the movie reboot have emerged, plot details are unknown.

However, it is likely to follow the same pattern as the TV show as the two narratives are said to have been designed to overlap.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, 2008-2009

This will not be the first time that the Terminator franchise makes the crossover to the small screen.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles aired on the Fox network between 2008 and 2009, but was pulled due to poor ratings.

Back in March, fans created a Kickstarter fund hoping to persuade creator Josh Friedman to revive the short-lived series, but he admitted that its return was "highly unlikely".
