Seth Meyers debuts on Late Night: What the critics say

In an interview with Extra, Meyers spoke of being in close contact with Fallon.

"[The] best tip he gave me… to be patient," Meyers said. "The idea is you do these shows for a long time.

"So you want to get into them and not get too nervous about how the first few go, because the idea is to do hundreds and hundreds."

He went on to say: "That's been good advice going into it. At this point, you want to start doing it so you can start making mistakes that you're inevitably going to make."

Meyers previously revealed that he does not want to "deconstruct" the chatshow format with Late Night.
