Rising Star: Kesha, Ludacris, Brad Paisley for new US singing show

Kesha, Ludacris and Brad Paisley have signed up to appear on ABC's new singing competition Rising Star.

The series, which will get a UK version on ITV in 2015, sees contestants making it through to the next round by reaching a certain number of viewer votes during their auditions.

The hopefuls sing behind a screen, which lights up with pictures of the members of the public who have voted for them on an app and is removed once they successfully reach the threshold.

Josh Groban has signed up to host the competition, while Kesha, Ludacris and Paisley will offer the contestants guidance and feedback, Entertainment Weekly reports.

The format has been a big success in other countries, and was the biggest premiere in Israel's September launch season for 15 years.

Rising Star will premiere on ABC on June 22.
