Rosie O'Donnell has announced that she is leaving ABC's The View following an on-air clash with co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck over the Iraq war.
O'Donnell was originally expected to depart from the mid-morning talk show when her contract expired next month, but she has now asked to leave early.
The TV personality found herself in a heated row with Hasselback on Wednesday's programme, which saw the two women accusing each other of cowardice.
"We had hoped that Rosie would be with us until the end of her contract three weeks from now, but Rosie has informed us that she would like an early leave," ABC Daytime Television president Brian Frons explained. "Therefore, we part ways, thank her for her tremendous contribution to The View and wish her well."
Show creator Barbara Walters said: "I brought Rosie to the show. Rosie contributed to one of our most exciting and successful years at The View. I am most appreciative. Our close and affectionate relationship will not change."
Referring to her three co-hosts, O'Donnell explained: "I'm extremely grateful. It's been an amazing year and I love all three women."
