Paxman goes Stateside

Newsnight presenter Jeremy Paxman has been signed up to present his own show for US cable network BBC America.
Paxman will be a compilation of the previous week's Newsnight programmes with a focus on non-UK stories.
The show is likely to air in the autumn. Paxman will also give the flagship MacTaggart lecture at this year's Media Guardian Edinburgh International TV Festival, which opens August 24.
BBC America president Garth Ancier told the Financial Times he hoped Paxman could emulate the success of American Idol judge Simon Cowell, who has proved popular with US viewers, adding: "Jeremy Paxman is the sort of person that Americans will just eat up."
