NBC 'pays $1m' to talk to Paris Hilton

NBC has reportedly paid $1m to get the first post-jail interview with Paris Hilton.
The New York Post, citing unnamed sources, claimed today that network chief Jeff Zucker personally pitched an interview to be conducted by Today co-host Meredith Vieira to Hilton's father, Rick.
The paper also pointed out that the move will likely annoy ABC, which had been expecting Hilton's first interview to be conducted by Barbara Walters on the strength of the 20/20 journalist's strong friendship with Paris' mother Kathy.
Hilton was sent back to jail on June 8 after a legal debacle in which the heiress was jailed, released under house arrest, and then re-imprisoned for driving with a suspended licence.
