'The Muppet Show' is set to return to primetime network television, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The publication reports that Jim Henson TV, producers Team Todd and FOX are developing a new series of the show. It would be the first new series in the United States of the show since 1981, when it ended after a five year run.
President of Entertainment at FOX, Gail Berman, said: "The Muppets have made us laugh for over 25 years. FOX is delighted to be developing a new Muppet series."
The new series is unlikely to emulate the format of the previous one. Jim Henson TV's President, Juliet Blake, promised it would be "fabulous, edgy and audacious."
