Goldberg to duel with Posh for 'View' job?

Whoopi Goldberg will reportedly compete against Victoria Beckham for a job on daytime discussion show The View.

It was reported yesterday that Beckham had signed to join the ABC show's panel, but co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck has tipped Whoopi Goldberg for the job.

She said: "I loved working with Whoopi Goldberg. She is soulful, has a world of experience to bring to the table, and I don't sense any sort of political agenda. She is so funny, but at the same time, she is one of the most thoughtful people that I've met."

However, she admitted that the show’s creator Barbara Walters was remaining tight-lipped about the appointment: "You'd have to ask Barbara. But I'm sure she is (a fan of Goldberg). Who isn't into Whoopi? She's an amazing person."

The View has been seeking a new presenter since May, when Rosie O'Donnell quit after clashing with Hasselbeck over the Iraq war.
