Battlestar Galactica creator Ronald D. Moore has signed a new two-year deal with Universal Media Studios.
Variety reported that Moore's deal is in the seven-figure range.
Moore will continue to work on BSG until the show ends its run on NBC stablemate SciFi next year. At the same time, he will be developing projects with a view to getting a show on air for fall 2008.
"Ron is one of those people who comes along very, very rarely, who knows how to create shows that are form-breakers," Universal Media Studios president Katherine Pope told the trade mag.
It is understood that Moore will be moving away from sci-fi for his new projects, and is considering developing a comedic show.
