Fox catches criminals 'Punk'd' style
Published Tuesday, Sep 4 2007, 09:54 BST | By James Welsh
Fox has completed production on a pilot of a new Punk'd-Cops fusion that sets up sting operations to lure criminals with arrest warrants into police hands.
Smile, You're Under Arrest - the show's working title - lures at-large criminals with the promise of a "best day ever"-style experience, such as racing a car or starring in a movie - before the police sweep in and make an arrest.
"If it were a regular person you’d feel bad for them, but they are all wanted by the law," Fox president of alternative entertainment Mike Darnell told Broadcasting and Cable. "It’s Cops as comedy and no one’s ever tried it before."
