USA has placed a third season order for 16 new episodes of Psych.
The show, which is paired up with Monk on USA's Friday night lineup, has been a summer success story for the NBC Universal cable outlet. In its timeslot, the hour-long light drama boosted USA to the second most-watched TV channel behind ABC this summer.
"We are thrilled to bring Psych back for a third season," said Jeff Wachtel, USA's executive vice president for original programming. "The series has been a critical and ratings sensation since it premiered last summer and continues to gain new viewers and grow its fan-base."
