Filming has stopped on The Office after Steve Carell failed to show up for work in support of the writers' strike.
The actor and several co-stars on the NBC sitcom have refused to cross the picket lines since the strike started on Monday.
Executive producer Greg Daniels said the last new episode of the show will air next week.
The Office is among at least eight prime-time shows to stop filming from Wednesday as a result of the WGA action.
Actress Sally Field also left the set of Brothers and Sisters to chat to the picketing writers and pledge her support. Ellen DeGeneres did not turn up to shoot her talk show on Monday, although she returned to work the following day.
