Hollywood scriptwriters have published a video campaign message on YouTube.

One of their major complaints is not getting paid when studios distribute programming on the internet.

The makers of the The Office decided to make the point with their own film on the site.

In the video, writer, producer and actor Mike Schur joked: "You're watching this on the internet, a thing that pays us zero dollars."

BJ Novak, another member of the team, emphasised the importance of getting payment rights from the web: "Every time I meet someone who's a new viewer of The Office, overwhelmingly, they're watching it on the internet or they're watching it on DVD."

Production on the comedy has stopped.
