Sydney Poitier lands 'Knight Rider' role

Veronica Mars actress Sydney Poitier will star in the upcoming pilot for the reimagined Knight Rider.
The Hollywood Reporter states that 34-year-old Poitier, not to be confused with her Oscar-winning father Sidney Poitier, will star as a 'feisty FBI agent' who has issues with central character Michael Knight. It was recently announced that Justin Bruening has won the part of maverick crusader Knight, played by David Hasselhoff in the original 1980s show, in the two-hour movie for NBC.
News of the remake, supposedly inspired by the success of the reimagined Transformers movie, broke in late September. The pilot will be executive produced by The Bourne Supremacy director Doug Liman, with the direction from Englishman Steve Shill, who has previously helmed episodes of Dexter, The Sopranos and The Bill.
