VH1 plans 'Celebrity Rehab' series
Published Thursday, Nov 29 2007, 09:51 GMT | By Dave West
VH1 is making a series following stars' attempts to kick addictions.
The eight 60-minute episodes of Celebrity Rehab with Dr Drew will be a joint project with comedy event producer Irwin Entertainment and Dr Drew Pinsky.
Among the stars taking part are Daniel Baldwin, Brigitte Nielson and Jeff Conaway. Host Dr Drew is an MTV presenter and academic who wrote a study on celebrity narcissism.
Michael Hirschorn, VH1 vice president for original programming and production, explained: "This project will reveal that true rehabilitation is gruelling work and takes an ongoing commitment.
"At the same time, we hope to demystify the process and encourage people with substance issues to explore rehab as a viable option."
It will be executive produced by Hirschorn, Jeff Olde, Jill Holmes and Noah Pollack from VH1, John Irwin and Damian Sullivan from Irwin Entertainment along with Pinsky and Howard Lapides.
