Leno, O'Brien to return without writers

New episodes of NBC's late night talk shows will be returning to the network on January 2.
Production on Jay Leno's Tonight Show and Conan O'Brien's Late Night was suspended on November 5 due to the Writers Guild of America strike. They have been in reruns since that date.
In a statement, Rick Ludwin, NBC's executive vice president for late night and primetime series, said: "During the 1988 writers strike, Johnny Carson reluctantly returned to The Tonight Show without his writers after two months. Both Jay and Conan have supported their writers during the first two months of this WGA strike and will continue to support them. However, there are hundreds of people who will be able to return to work as a result of Jay's and Conan's decision."
