Lee to play 'Earl' for a few more years

Jason Lee has insisted that he is committed to staying with My Name Is Earl for a few more years before the show ends.

The actor, who stars in current movie Alvin and the Chipmunks, has no intention to leave his lead part in the US show, because he thinks it is too good.

Lee said: "There will be an ending of course, maybe in a few more years, but not yet. We're making better TV in some ways than we are movies."

He has decided to remain loyal to the series, despite the writers' strike currently causing disruption in filming.

The star added: "I'm just waiting to get back on Earl - I don't really have anything lined up. I can't really afford to run away for three months and do a film, at the risk of the strike ending and them calling me back. So unfortunately I'm unemployed and just kind of waiting for the strike to end."

Lee claimed that he has been keeping himself busy while the problems are sorted out, saying: "I'm moving into a new house and hanging out with my son," he says. "It's a nice little break, but with each day that passes, I'm not making money from work. But I want the writers to get what they feel they deserve."
