US sees sharp online, mobile TV growth

The number of US consumers watching television online and on mobile phones has shot up, a survey has found.
About 38% of people view on the internet, up from 23% in February and March, while 36% use their mobile for entertainment, a 12% rise. About 20% in the latest study said they watched video on their mobile daily or almost daily.
The results are from an online survey of 2,081 people by Deloitte and Touche in October.
It also found 45% are creating their own online content in the form of web sites, music, videos or blogs for others to view.
Ken August, from Deloitte and Touche, noted several platforms were very commonly used: "I think for advertisers one of the conclusions is you don't make decisions to advertise either on television or the Internet when you want to hit all the demographics, but rather you need to have a multiplatform strategy. It shouldn't be an either or proposition."
