'Samurai Girl' to fight for ABC

ABC is making a new series about a Japanese girl who plots to defeat her Yakuza boss father to air as a "major programming event".
Samurai Girl will see 19-year-old Heaven, played by Jamie Chung, realise her father's evil ways, run away and train in martial arts. She fights his gang with a group of American friends.
It will air on ABC Family as three two-hour shows over a weekend to create a "major programming event". Production will start in Canada in the spring to go to screens in August.
The show is produced by Alloy Entertainment and is based on its Samurai Girl novel series.
