Sally Field to reprise 'ER' role

Sally Field will reprise her role in NBC's medical drama ER as the series returns this fall, the network announced on Thursday.
Field, who won prestigious Emmy awards for her role as the mentally ill mother of Nurse Abby, who is played by Maura Tierney. Field's character first appeared in the series during the 2000-01 season, over a high-profile arc of episodes; suffering from bi-polar disorder and refusing to have treatment, Field's character caused problems and heartache for her daughter.
In the upcoming season, Field's character will be reunited both with her distrustful daughter Abby as well as her son, an Air Force veteran visiting Abby played by Thomas Everett Scott.
