'Family Guy'/Fox
The animated show, carrying the working title Cleveland, will follow the life of Peter Griffin's down to earth neighbour Cleveland Brown.
Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, Mike Henry - who voices the character - and former Simpsons producer Rich Appel will write the show.
Family Guy was cancelled twice by Fox in 2000 and 2002 but strong DVD sales and growing ratings in re-runs prompted a revival in 2005.
There had been friction between MacFarlane and the network last year over its plans to complete episodes without him when he refused to cross the WGA picket line.
Along with Cleveland, Fox is also developing a Prison Break spinoff set in a female prison.
