'New Amsterdam' drama starts well in US

The show, about an immortal detective in New York, won its 9pm slot for Fox, with 13.7m viewers on Tuesday.
It was the second-highest rated show of the night. Top was American Idol which attracted 28.2m and led in to Amsterdam on Fox.
NBC came second across the night. It drew 8.7m viewers for a two-hour Biggest Loser at 8pm then 9.4m for a repeat of Law & Order: SVU.
NCIS put in a regular strong performance for CBS gaining 10.6m at 8pm but the network struggled later. At 9pm Big Brother trailed Amsterdam and Biggest Loser with 6.7m then at 10pm drama Jericho only reached 5.9m.
