'Smallville' fans take part in online story
Published Thursday, Mar 13 2008, 16:23 GMT | By Ben Rawson-Jones
Smallville fans can create their own adventures in a digital comic book based on the show.
The CW Network, Warner Bros and Stride Gum have joined forces for the online initiative, which enables users to shape the bulk of events contained within the comic book. Both the beginning and end of the story have already been developed by the writers and producers of the Superman spinoff, with the narrative closely tied to an episode screened on television on March 13 in the United States.
The format involves readers of the CW Network's cwtv.com website voting every Tuesday and Thursday for the direction they want the adventure to take, choosing from two possible scenes, culminating in a digital comic book created by DC Comics.
In the United Kingdom, both Doctor Who and Torchwood have been accorded online interactive adventures on their official BBC websites.
