Ex-'Home & Away' man joins US soap pilot

Former Home & Away actor Christopher Egan is to play the lead in a US soap pilot based on the story of King David.

Kings will revolve around David (Egan), a warrior who is chosen to join a royal court after saving the life of the king's son. The show has been put into production for NBC. Egan played Nick Smith in the Aussie soap.

Several other castings also emerged yesterday in the US development season.

They included Lauren Lee Smith (The L Word) joining drama Can Openers and Sara Rue (Less Than Perfect) taking the female lead role in a remake of Spaced.

Bert Belasco (Dash 4 Cash) joined comedy Starting Under and Joanna Garcia (Reba) signed up for the lead role on How to Teach Filthy Rich Girls.
