The actor said his original contract stated that he was entitled to 25% of the net profits from the series, which ran from 1976 until 1983 and was subsequently re-broadcast.
Klugman, 85, has filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court saying his contract was lost when his agent died and NBC had refused to provide him with a new copy.
He alleged that the network had lied by leading him to believe the show had lost $66 million in 2006 when in fact it had made money.

He added: "I got up at four in the morning and stayed at the studio. I did rewrite. I edited.”
