Miley Cyrus's TV show has seen a ratings slide following her controversial photoshoot with Vanity Fair.

The Hannah Montana star caused outrage in the US after posing wrapped in only a blanket for the cover of an upcoming issue.

According to the Nielsen Company, audience figures for Sunday's episode fell 14% from the previous episode, which aired two months ago.

However, the Disney Channel series was already losing popularity before the photo scandal, with Sunday's audience down 26% on January's first show of the season, reports the New York Daily News.

The programme has now been replaced by Wizards of Waverly Place as the top-rated show on the channel.

Wizards stars 15-year-old Selena Gomez, who is reportedly being lined up to replace Cyrus as the network's top teen star.

Disney CEO Bob Iger denied that the latest figures spell trouble for the smash-hit series, saying: "With a new season of shows coming up, a new record in July and a theatrical film next year, the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus franchise is incredibly robust."
