'Will & Grace' turns 100
Published Wednesday, Nov 13 2002, 23:54 GMT | By James Welsh
Will & Grace, the smash-hit sitcom from NBC, is celebrating its 100th episode with an hour-long episode filled with cameo roles from top celebrities.
In what is being billed as an "eventful wedding episode", Katie Couric of the Today programme - playing herself - asks Grace (Debra Messing) and her boyfriend Leo (Harry Connick, Jr.) if they "feel like getting married today"... and when Grace impulsively accepts, the hour long episode gets truly underway.
Debbie Reynolds, famed for her role in Singin' in the Rain, returns as Grace's mother Bobbi. But, celebrity cameo roles aside, it's the reactions of the core cast, particularly Will played by Eric McCormack, that make the episode what it is. Will is particularly uneasy about the entire affair; but Jack (played by the excellent Sean Hayes), Karen (Megan Mullally) and Rosario (Shelley Morrison) are also more than a little uncertain about accepting Leo so far into the friendship group. Indeed, although things don't exactly go swimmingly with the physical wedding arrangements, it is the emotional barriers that stall Grace's progress down the aisle. Will she make it?
Following the special episode, a half-hour show of previously unseen out-takes and bloopers will air. Will & Grace primetime starts on Thursday, November 21 at 8:30pm, going through to 10pm. Never before has NBC's Thursday night slogan, "Must See TV", been more appropriate.
