Kelsey Grammer joins US 'Empire' remake

Kelsey Grammer has been cast in a remake of BBC comedy Roman's Empire which is in production in the US.

Grammer (Frasier) will star as Roman Pretty, an eccentric billionaire who refuses to let his daughter's ex-boyfriend escape the family. The actor's most recent role was in cancelled Fox comedy Back To You.

Leo, the boyfriend, is played by stand-up comedian Nick Thune in the series which just began filming for ABC.
