Classic Moments: Arthur Petrelli's Revival ('Heroes')
That Petrelli family has always been a bit dodgy, but everyone assumed that Angela was the scheming manipulator at the heart of their clan. However, in the third season Heroes episode 'Dying Of The Light' another family force resurfaced from beyond the grave - sending one Heroes character in the other direction.

The Context

The revelation that Sylar was Nathan and Peter Petrelli's brother heightened the intrigue surrounding the family. Subsequently, Maury Parkman was revealed to be communicating via telepathy with Arthur Petrelli, who was hooked up to a life-support system in a medical chamber at the Pinehearst Company. Maury informed Arthur that Adam Monroe has been found, following Knox's capture of the man who supposedly can't die.

The Moment

Knox calmly escorts the unsuspecting Adam Monroe to the Pinehearst facility and pushes him into a room. Adam looks up at the bed next to him and is stunned to see Arthur lying there, conscious but unmoving. Adam tells Arthur that he heard he was dead, but Arthur transmits something telepathically that has Adam recoiling in fear and he tries to escape.

Knox prevents Adam from leaving and, capitalising on his fear, drags him towards the bed and places his hand in Arthur's. Immediately, the life is drained from Adam and transferred into Arthur, with the former's horrified face soon crumbling into dust, along with the rest of his body. Arthur jolts up in bed, rips out all the medical tubes and announces: "It's good to breathe again."

The Aftermath

Arthur, free from his paralysis, is keen to bond with his son Peter when he arrives at Pinehearst. Yet he merely uses the hug with his son to take all of his superpowers from him, rendering Peter helpless. Arthur's supreme ruthlessness seems to dominate his every action, as he snaps Maury's neck when he tries to prevent Daphne from being dispatched to kill his son Matt. It's also revealed that Arthur was in cahoots with Linderman shortly before the events of the first season of Heroes.
