Published Monday, May 14 2007, 20:46 BST | By James Welsh
A 6 episode Heroes spinoff has been announced by NBC at the network's 2007-08 upfront presentation.
Series creator Tim Kring will develop Heroes: Origins for a run likely to take place after the second season of Heroes finishes airing. The spinoff will feature an entirely new cast and will introduce a new character each week.
A viewer vote conducted on the official Heroes website will then determine the most popular character, which will go on to join the regular cast for a third season of the cult hit.
