Heroes creator Tim Kring has prepared an early end to the show's second season - and plans to address fan complaints about the direction of the show.

Kring said that the episode currently scheduled to air on December 3 has been reworked to serve as a season finale should production be - as seems likely - halted in the near future.

He told Entertainment Weekly that the December 3 end date for season two would permit a creative renewal of the show when production on what will effectively become volume three resumes.

"The message is that we've heard the complaints," Kring said. "And we're doing something about it."

It is understood that in the event of a protracted strike a selection of Heroes "specials" would be aired by NBC in the run-up to the start of the 2008-09 television season.
