On the subway train Peter is told by Hiro, who claims to have come from the future, to save ‘the cheerleader… to prevent everything’. After time is unfrozen and Hiro disappears, Mohinder is unconvinced by Peter’s revelations and decides to give up his search and return to India.
Both Claire Bennet and Brody are recovering in hospital following their car smash, with the cheerleader later telling her father the truth about the encounter with the young man that led to her seeking revenge. Mr Bennet was earlier thwarted by Nathan Petrelli, who flew to safety after being captured following his steamy session with Niki’s alter-ego.
Niki, meanwhile, remains oblivious to what happened with the politician until she is shown a video of the action. Police officer Matt returns home to his anxious wife to discover he was missing for an entire day. He can’t remember what happened. Still, he’s glad his wife shows concern following their previous acrimony.
Hiro and Ando, dumped in a remote area after their beating at the hands of the embittered gamblers, have a disagreement in a diner with the latter storming off. At least the prospect of waffles cheers up Hiro… until he looks out of the window to witness Nathan landing in the field outside.
In just his pyjama bottoms, Nathan enters the diner in need of clothing, a cellphone and a coffee. Hiro introduces himself, in broken English, and reveals he saw the flying, which Nathan denies. Hiro then admits his own superpower, the ability to bend time and space. “We are both special”, he claims. Nathan tries to laugh off these comments, but agrees to give Hiro a lift into town.
Peter pays an embittered Isaac a visit to find out more about his visions, but the artist is more concerned over losing Simone. A painting of a cheerleader is soon unearthed. After Isaac is reluctant to paint any more, Peter has a vision of the future on a canvas and starts to paint…
Hiro buys a car, but finds the instructions are in English, whilst Nathan soon bumps into Niki, who comes clean about the blackmail plot.
Mr Bennet pays Brody a discreet visit in his hospital bed and says he won’t kill him for what he did, but will instead give him a new life. Bennet instructs his menacing accomplice to ‘hollow him out’. When Claire later visits him, Brody doesn’t recognise her or his own name.
Police are staked out at Niki’s house hoping to catch hr fugitive husband. Instead, Ando randomly turns up to pay her a visit, having been a fan of the blonde’s online stripping endeavors.
Matt and his wife rekindle their romance in the physical sense, with the lady astutely observing that “it’s like you’re in my head”. The policeman quickly takes a post-coital trip to convenience store for ice cream, where he hears the thoughts of a man on the verge of staging an armed robbery. Matt quietly diffuses the situation and picks up the gun, only to have a breakdown as the thoughts of anxious shoppers – who view him as armed and dangerous – flood his mind.
Ando is released and the police leave Niki’s house, but unknown to everyone is that her husband has sneaked in. Hiro, now reunited with Ando, calls Isaac’s apartment but Peter picks up the phone. He has an important message to pass on…
