Back in India, Mohinder is looking into his deceased father's affairs and runs into his ex-girlfriend Mira. He then discovers tragic news from his mother - that he had a sister who died aged five called Shanti.
Ando and Hiro visit a diner and encounter a waitress called Charlie with the power to recall any information she's come across. She takes a shine to Hiro, although a mysterious man in the corner, face hidden beneath a cap, is monitoring them.
Mohinder is plagued by bizarre dreams in which a young boy leads him into various scenarios featuring his parents in the past. This includes seeing the murder of his father in America, although the killer's face is obscured. The murderer does closely resemble the man in the diner watching Hiro and the waitress - presumably Sylar. Also, a dream reveals that a key he found can open a drawer in his father's office, which he does. Inside is a photo of the boy in his dreams.
Whilst questioning the Theodore Sprague, Matt discovers that the radioation generating guy has the same distinctive marks on his neck that only appeared after blacking out in the past. Once awake, they both discovered their new powers. Also, both men reveal they saw a Haitian nearby before blacking out. Homeland Security enter the fray and take Theodore into their jurisdiction, much to Matt's dismay.
Isaac awakens to discover he has been kidnapped by Mr Bennet and Eden. Bennet claims to be working to help people with special powers, but demand that Isaac create a painting of the future that might help him prevent his daughter Claire's death. He even demands that Eden give the artist heroin to help him paint. Bennet also reveals that Claire was adopted from a a woman with special powers who died whilst he was looking after her.
In the diner's storeroom, Charlie is savagely murdered with her brain being removed. As the police investigate, Hiro tells Ando that he can prevent the murder by travelling back in time. He doesn't return in a matter of minutes like he promised, but he does suddenly appear on an old photo with Charlie pinned up in the diner.
Matt discovers his fate for punching a superior officer for having an affair with his wife - a month's suspension without pay. His wife later confesses to the adultery and promises it's in the past. Before they can talk further, Matt's FBI colleague Audrey calls to inform him that Theodore has escaped from custody in a trail of destructuion.
