Hiro hooks up with Charlie six months prior to her death, in a bid to save her from Sylar. They both grow to love each other and Hiro begs her to flee to Japan with him, after explaining his powers. However, Charlie explains that she is dying of a blood clot but already feels saved – as prior to meeting Hiro she was feeling very miserable about life. As they start kissing, Hiro closes his eyes and accidentally teleports back to the future.
Niki’s estranged father Hal turns up at one of her Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and says he wants to be part of a family again. Soon, he visits her and Hawkins and offers a cheque to pay for their young son Micah’s schooling. They all soon argue when Micah disassembles a laptop bought for him and Hal leaves. It soon emerges that he was responsible for killing Niki’s sister Jessica, although the deceased sibling now occupies Niki’s body and goes to pay her murderer a visit in his hotel room – stuffing the cheque in his mouth.
Nathan and Peter are planning to prosecute Mr Linderman, in an act that will also incriminate their own father. However, when out driving with his wife later, Nathan’s car is run off the road in a nasty crash. Nathan manages to fly to safety but his wife is badly hurt and he later learns that his father has died of a heart attack.
Matt pulls over Eden after noticing she has been drinking. She uses her mind power to make him return to his car and eat some donuts. The Haitian then appears in front of her and she wakes up to find Mr Bennet in front of her. She tries to use her powers to ensure her release but The Haitian blocks them. Bennet then explains that he wants her help in taking his daughter Claire off Chandra Suresh’s list of people to visit about genetic abnormalities.
Gabriel, hurt by Chandra’s rejection of his powers, manages to discover the address of a telekinetic man called Brian who Chandra plans to visit. He calls him and asks him to visit the watch shop. When he does, Gabriel takes the name ‘Sylar’ from the make of a watch in front of him and explains that Brian’s brain needs to be fixed – like a watch. He kills him and seems to take his powers – as he visits Suresh again displaying telekinetic capabilities. He suggests they work together to find the other people with abilities…
