S01E14: 'Distractions'
Claude tells Peter that he will help him control and manipulate his ability to absorb the powers of other special people – even when they are not around. This isn’t greeted with success straight away, as Peter is left exposed and very visible after taking a woman’s purse. Later however, Claude unexpectedly pushes Peter off a tall building to try and force him into flying. He doesn’t and instead lands forcefully on a car, but manages to instead escape death and injury by his body healing itself quickly, just like a certain cheerleader. Before this though, the pair spy on Simone, seeing that she holds a torch for Isaac still. The artist then paints a picture of Peter with part of him invisible. He tells Bennet, who responds that an old friend believed dead is actually still alive, referring to Claude.

The revitalised Sylar puts Mr Bennet in his cell and taunts him with the fact that he now knows his home address. The former clock fixer then turns up at the Bennet residence posing as a delivery man from Primatech Paper and asks Bennet’s wife about Claire, who is expected home shortly. When she becomes suspicious, Sylar telekinetically hurls her against a mirror, but Bennet and The Haitian arrive on the scene in time to prevent her death. Sylar takes a few bullets but manages to escape.

Meanwhile, Claire has been visiting her real mother Meredith in Texas. They demonstrate their powers to each other and have an emotional reunion. When it’s time for Claire to leave she receives a necklace as a gift and they promise to see each other again, especially as the cheerleader wants to know more about her real father. We then see Meredith phone the man in question to inform him that their daughter is alive – Nathan Petrelli.

Despite Jessica assaulting her prison shrink, Niki is released from prison with all charges dropped. She insists that she committed the murders, but is told that other people have confessed and there’s conclusive evidence proving their credence. It emerges that Linderman was behind the events. Upon returning home to Hawkins and Micah, Jessica takes over and traps Niki in the mirror.

Hiro’s father tells his son that he must return home and become the Vice President of his company – an honour that has always been planned. Hiro refuses this and hatches a clever plan in which he promotes the capabilities of his sister instead, showing his father that she will make the ideal candidate for the role. This works perfectly and the two parties go their separate ways.
