S01E11: 'Fallout'

'Fallout's superior direction comes courtesy of Englishman John Badham, who also helmed feature films such as Short Circuit and Saturday Night Fever. His craftmanship is particularly evident in Eden's horrific death scene, magnificantly depicted in visual terms by having the shattered glass suddenly turn a gruesome shade of red. Let's hope Badham makes a swift return behind the camera.
The menace associated with The Haitian in both this and previous episodes leads us to expect bad things for Claire when he arrives on the scene. However, this is very cleverly subverted when he comes to her apparent aid and refuses to wipe her memory despite Mr Bennet's orders. So is Claire's father now a bad guy again? One of the beauties of Heroes is that it's often not a simple case of black and white, with characters being far more complex than good or bad.
