S01E15: 'Run!'

Poor Claire. Although her body may be able to heal itself pretty well, how exactly will her mind undo all the psychological damage that’s been inflicted on her? Her fake family consists of a father who wants her mind wiped and a mother who has lost her own far too many times. Then you come to the real parents… ouch.

The turmoil heaped on Claire is particularly absorbing as this episode leaves aside some other subplots to focus on her plight, as well as the journeys of Matt and the Hiro-Ando axis. The suspended cop has been an audience identification figure since the start of the series, a clearly nice everyday guy who is struggling to cope with some external pressures. So it was a clever twist to see him succumb to the forces of greed and take the diamonds. Or does he have something else planned?

Given these emotional crises, the Hiro-Ando narrative provided some nice comic relief to stop the episode having the same grim tone as your average Christmas Day offering of EastEnders. Isn’t it about time Sylar is unleashed upon Albert Square? Now that would be the ultimate crossover...
