S02E01: 'Four Months Later'

As the narrative - set four months after the first season finale - dragged on, it was hard to stifle yawns due to the lack of momentum and languid pacing. The decision to re-establish characters and their new environments may well pay off in the future, but judged on its own merits it was poor and lacked focus. The Claire Bennet and Hiro strands were particularly underwhelming.
The only effective subplot involved Matt Parkman, with his initial hostage-taking scenario an effective trick on the viewer. The sadness of his existence with Molly – neatly conveyed by the expressionistic, invasive environment – was certainly bathed in a forebodingly sinister air. Elsewhere, it was great to see the sublime Sark from Alias unexpectedly turn up as Kensei, although he had very little to do or enrapture the audience with.
All bones and no meat, 'Four Months Later' hardly inspires one to eagerly anticipate the next episode.
