Taghmaoui, best known for his part in seminal 1995 film La Haine, will reportedly play a character called Caesar. Lost's showrunner Damon Lindelof told Entertainment Weekly that the actor has "an innate intelligence, intensity and danger we really responded to".
Fellow Lost boss Carlton Cuse added that Caesar will play "an important part of the setup for the final act of the show in season six".
Taghmaoui has also played supporting roles in films such as Three Kings, Hideous Kinky and the soon-to-be-released Traitor. He will also appear as Breaker in GI Joe: Rise Of The Cobra in 2009.
