Dominic Monaghan has said that he was not surprised that his character was killed off in Lost.

Charlie Pace was a regular character in the ABC drama until his demise at the end of the third season.

Monaghan told Metro: "I'd talked about it with the creators of the show since series three.

"We'd had a bargain about what we were going to do with Charlie and put it into practice."

When asked if the programme was similar to his new drama FlashForward, he added: "It's a hit so it is in a way. It's different to Lost. It's based in the real world so it differs in that regard.

"I wonder if this show will unfold quicker, it might not be around for six years. In which case, the fans might be more satisfied with the pace of it all."
