S03E18: 'D.O.C.'
The recently landed semi-conscious parachutist is observed by the group of Charlie, Desmond, Jin and Hurley in the jungle, with the latter accidentally firing a flare gun. Soon, the previously thought dead Mikhail appears, but is captured before he can escape. He claims to be a medic who can help the wounded parachutist, but only if they agree to let him go after. He helps the bilingual new inhabitant, but is caught trying to steal the satellite phone on his way out. The parachutist then delivers some chock news – that Flight 815 was officially found and there were no survivors.

Sun speaks to Juliet about her pregnancy, where she learns that child-bearing women perish on the island. Juliet offers her help if she goes somewhere with her alone, which turns out to be a medical centre used by The Others. After performing an ultrasound scan, the conception date is revealed to have been forty days after the plane crash, meaning that Jin is the real father despite his previous sterility. Juliet then sneaks off to leave Ben a message that reveals she has secretly been working for him, although she appears to resent that fact.

Sun is given the flashback treatment, and we learn that she was once approached by a woman in a park who revealed that Jin was the son of a prostitute. In return for keeping quiet she demanded $100,000 within three days. Sun investigates Jin’s origins and learns from his father that the story is true and that his son is unaware.

Sun’s father gives her the money after she begged him for it, although she didn’t reveal the exact reason for needing it. When Jin stumbles across it in her purse, she claims it was a honeymoon present from her father. Later, Sun gives the money to the blackmailer, where it emerges that she is Jin’s mother.
