Locke is roaming the island, along with his band of rebels, looking for the location of Jacob's hut. He has no luck, so decides to head to the barracks previously occupied by The Others. He sets up a trap that involves Hurley pretending to be tied up in a cupboard, in order to trap Sayid, Kate and Miles when they investigate the area. Kate is particularly displeased with Sawyer for his part in their capture.
Juliet heads to the beach and brings back Desmond after it emerges that Naomi was carrying a picture of him and Penelope Widmore. Desmond demands answers from Frank, but he claims to have no knowledge and that Naomi was his superior. Sayid returns to the helicopter with Charlotte, having arranged a deal with Locke to swap her for Miles and Kate. Frank, who admits he didn't like Miles, flies Sayid, Desmond and Naomi's body back to the boat.
In a series of flashforwards, Sayid kills a man on a deserted golf course in the Seychelles after revealing that he is one of the Oceanic Six. Working for a mystery employer, he charms his way into the heart of a woman called Elsa who he approaches in a cafe. They go for dinner, to the opera and soon they are romantically involved.
While in her hotel room with her lover, Elsa receives a message from her employer demanding that she meet him. Sayid suddenly admits that his real aim is to assassinate her employer and urges her to flee the country. However, Elsa has also been duplicitous and shoots Sayid in the shoulder before contacting her boss to say that he is in her clutches. Sayid manages to grab a gun and kill her. Sayid is later given another mission by his employer, who turns out to be Ben.
