Hannah is currently dating Booth (David Boreanaz) after they met in Afghanistan.
"I hope viewers give Hannah a chance and realise that she's not there to... create a big catfight or high school drama," Winnick told Fancast. "She's there because she truly does love Booth and she's there to... start a life with him."
Winnick added that she knows some Bones fans will be disappointed that Hannah is getting in the way of a romance between Booth and Brennan (Emily Deschanel).
"I heard that I may be causing a stir, but I'm excited about my character and I hope that they will welcome me," she said. "I hope that the audience will give [Hannah] a shot and fall in love with her, because I've fallen in love with Hannah."
Winnick also suggested that Hannah and Brennan will strike up a friendship, saying: "They're both driven by facts, and they're both very motivated, intelligent and adventurous women. I respect Brennan - and hopefully she does the same with me, so there's not any major tension right away."
