The producer is adapting a new TV series based on the Swedish novel series Backstrom by author Leif G.W. Persson, says The Hollywood Reporter.
The original series follows Evert Backstrom, an overweight and rude detective who aims to improve his life.
Hanson will write and executive produce the pilot for CBS, alongside Persson and his Scandinavian literary agent Niclas Salomonsson.
His previous series The Finder was axed by Fox earlier this year.
Bones will enter its eighth season in September.
Despite rumours arising that the upcoming season will be its last, Hanson recently stated that he is looking beyond its latest run.
He said: "We are in no way planning for it to be the last season. I mean, anything can happen in a complicated world, but we're very, very confident in having at least a season nine, and I can see as far as season 10 before my eyes get misty."
