In a recent Twitter post, the actor insisted that the future of the ABC drama will not be decided until later in the year.
"We will not know about season two until May," he confirmed. "It's in ABC's hands."
However, Chiklis, who plays Jim Powell, admitted that a second season renewal was unlikely due to falling audience numbers.
"It does not look good because the live [ratings] are too low," he explained.
The former star of The Shield recently signed up to play the lead role in CBS comedy pilot Vince Uncensored. His No Ordinary Family co-star Julie Benz has also joined the cast of an as-yet untitled supernatural medical drama.
Benz recently admitted that she is still hoping for a second season of No Ordinary Family, while Stephen Collins (Dr. King) claimed that the show deserves to be renewed.
No Ordinary Family airs on Tuesdays at 8/7c on ABC in the US and on Tuesdays at 8pm on Watch in the UK.
