The television show adaptation of Robert Kirkman's Image Comics series will show the pair following Lori's husband Rick Grimes's coma and supposed death in a flashback in the forthcoming second season, reports TV Guide.
Kirkman is also considering releasing a The Walking Dead volume zero graphic novel that will fill in the blanks between Rick's coma and the zombie apocalypse.
"It was fun to step out of the zombie world and show Lori with a BlackBerry," said actress Sarah Wayne Callies, who plays Lori in the show.
"The scene underscores how deeply Lori and Shane love [her son] Carl, plus I hope it will finally put to bed the ridiculous rumours that an affair was going on before [Lori's husband and Shane's friend] Rick 'died'."
It was recently confirmed that Frank Darabont will no longer helm the show.
Darabont will be succeeded by his former deputy Glen Mazzara.
