The producer told E! Online that episode 13 'Beside the Dying Fire' will end on a "shocking cliffhanger".
"When we mixed the last couple of episodes... even my jaw dropped, and I was there when we shot it," she said.
"Even though people are inveterate tweeters during episodes, I have a feeling there may be some significant periods of silence because people may not be able to click on their keyboards."
Hurd confirmed that Shane (Jon Bernthal) will play a big role in the finale, adding that the former lawman "could blow at any moment".
"[Shane is] a loose cannon," she explained. "[He's] someone that is so impulsive, a lot of the time it turns out well, but he does have no regard for human life."
The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon) previously admitted that he "hated" filming scenes from the most recent episode, in which Dale (Jeffrey DeMunn) was killed.
"That was crazy," he said. "[It was] cold, out late and we love DeMunn so it was rough on us."
The Walking Dead continues on Sundays at 9/8c on AMC. In the UK, the show airs on Fridays at 10pm on FX.
