'Walking Dead' stars on Daryl, Merle reunion: 'There's conflict'

The Walking Dead stars Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker have spoken about their characters' impending reunion.

On the zombie drama, estranged brothers Daryl (Reedus) and Merle (Rooker) have never appeared together on screen.

"When the brothers are reunited, certain things happen," Reedus told The Hollywood Reporter. "That will be the struggle - does Daryl want to be like Merle anymore?"

He added: "It's a different world and there are no second chances and that causes conflict on both sides."

Rooker - who was promoted to a series regular for The Walking Dead's third season - refused to confirm where his own character Merle's loyalties will ultimately lie.

"Merle is for Merle," he explained. "[But] if there's any human being on this Earth at all he cares about, it's his brother.

"Life is too short nowadays to be politically correct; we can be eaten at any moment. You don't know where Merle is going to put his cards."

Norman Reedus recently told Digital Spy that there will be "a lot of conflict" when the estranged siblings are reunited.

"Michael Rooker is such a fun actor - he's so over-the-top, in the best possible way," said Reedus. "He's such a bad guy! When I first found out he was my brother, I was so excited."

The Walking Dead airs on FX in the UK and on AMC in the US.
