Cowell 'denies Smith US X Factor report'

Simon Cowell has dismissed reports that Will Smith will appear as a judge on the US version of The X Factor.

The actor and rapper has been linked to the series on a number of occasions in recent weeks. However, Cowell told Extra's Terri Seymour that the claims are not accurate.

"I would love to work with Will," he said. "But I don't know where this story has come from, because we have never even spoken."

Cowell's denial comes after a spokesperson for Smith also rubbished the stories.

The X Factor will launch in America later this year.
