The Black Eyed Peas singer has been among those stars linked to joining Simon Cowell's American version of the hit reality show, but The AP now quotes her as saying she wouldn't be able to put in the time necessary to help the show's contestants improve.
"I think that it's a very committed job that you have to put your time into and I don't think I'm gonna have that much time, but I love Simon and I would love to do something like that," Fergie asserted.
She continued: "It's right down my alley, but I just don't think I have enough time to give and I would want to give everything to those contestants."
Thus far, only Cowell and music executive L.A. Reid have been confirmed as The X Factor's judges. Earlier this week, however, Cowell publicly backed both Paula Abdul and Cheryl Cole to join the series' panel of experts.
As for The X Factor's hosting duties, former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger has claimed that she is still unsure if she'll be signed to present the reality competition.
Auditions for The X Factor continue at the Sears Centre Arena in Chicago today, before moving on to the Dallas Convention Centre in Dallas on May 26.
